The Detention Division includes the Medical Division and the Food Service Division. Captain George Deer and Lieutenant Belva Hensley are in charge of 26 Detention Officers, 4 Kitchen Staff, and 3 Medical Staff. This division is responsible for housing pre-trial and convicted Inmates. Currently our jail population is averaging 200 Inmates daily.
The Sheriff and his staff are responsible for the operation and control of the jail and shall strive to act fairly and humanely, according to law. The Sheriff has established rules to secure the proper operation of the jail and maintain the safety of staff, civilians, and inmates.
The Walker County Jail is a smoke free facility. Smoking or possession of any tobacco products, lighters, or matches is strictly prohibited.
Upon arrival the inmate must go through the booking process. The booking process is the same for everyone, regardless of the charge or length of confinement.
Inmates will be given the opportunity to use the telephone when the booking process is completed.
Links of interest for inmate's family and friends are listed at the bottom of the left column.
