Announcement:

On December 22, 1994 the body of James Richard Harris of Chickamauga was discovered around 7:30 am in his driveway beside his truck. We believe the 54 year old Mr. Harris was ambushed at the front gate of his residence at 1610 Boss Road sometime between 4 and 7:30 am. Mr. Harris worked at Miller Industries in Olteewah Tennessee and it was his normal routine to leave his residence for work daily between 4 and 5 am. It appears that Mr. Harris struggled with his attacker or attackers before being robbed and left unresponsive beside his truck in his driveway.

Numerous leads were followed up on with one leading to a description and composite sketch (see below) of a person possibly seen at or near the scene that morning. The description is that of a white male that looked to be in his mid 40's with medium colored brown wavy hair that reached the collar in the back and did not cover the forehead. The white male appeared to be around 6 feet tall, stocky built, clean shaven and wearing brown colored coveralls.

Over the past ten years many people have been interviewed about the death of Mr. Harris however no information has ever been developed leading to solving this incident. If anyone has any information that could assist us with this matter please contact Captain Mike Freeman of the Walker County Sheriff's Office at 706-638-1909 ext. 224 or Crime Stoppers at 423-698-3333. All calls are confidential.
